Benson 7/1/08

Hi all,

We're still in Benson. It was a great day.I GOT A NAP.

The boys and I decided to stay in Benson one more day to rest.We did rest too,sort of.D was taking a nap on the couch and B was out investigating with some kids from the next camp site.All of a sudden B comes yelling and screaming for D. He's yelling "RATTLE SNAKE" D is up off the couch looking for his shirt ,hat and stick.Of course he has no shoes on. he runs out the door to were all the kids are.He gets there and most of the kids are standing about 10ft. away. But not B. He's trying to help,so he's about 5ft.back from the snake. I go running out the door because I know B and he's going to be rite in the middle of everything.To my surprise he's standing banding back like D told him and just watching and taking picts.Luckily it's only a gopher snake and all he wants to do is get away.What a beautiful animal.This snake is close to 5ft. long

Like I said ,I got a nice long nap.While I was napping the clouds rolled in. The boys had set up the tent so they could actually camp out.With the clouds came the wind, with the wind came the tint rolling across the camp ground.All of a sudden HERE COMES THE RAIN. It poured for about an hour. The tent had 1/2 an in. of water in it. So D takes it down to dry out and leaves it outside. It dried alittle and the wind came up again. More rain. They stuffed the tent under mohome.at around 7pm. they were able to put it away.I brought B in the mohome to get ready for bed at 8pm. he's been up way to late every nite.D was sitting outside in the dark,talking on his phone.He comes in with that look of the eyeballs so big their going to jump out of his head.Did we see it? No we didn't see anything. He saw a large CAT maybe 200 to 300lb. cat walk clear across the campground and out through the fence. He sort of stayed in the rest of the nite.

Well That's about enough for today.
